We receive heat and light from the big glowing ball in the sky that we call the sun. The sun is the largest object in our solar system and is made up of gases. All planets rotate around the sun. The sun is one of over 100 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy. Its radius (distance from its center to its surface) is about 432,000 miles (695,500 kilometers), approximately 109 times Earth’s radius.[1] Earth size of a paper clip. The sun the height of a desk. 100 paces away. 1,300,000 earth’s would fit in the sun. The outer surface of the sun has the temperature of about 5500 °C (10,000 °F) “The energy of the sun comes from nuclear fusion reactions that occur deep inside the (15,000,000° C; 27,000,000° F) sun’s core. In a fusion reaction, two atomic nuclei join together, creating a new nucleus. Fusion produces energy by converting nuclear matter into energy (solar energy). “[2] The energy is carried to the surface of the Sun, through a process known as convection, where it is released as light and heat. Even though the sun is extremely important for our existence on earth, one day we will not need the sun for its light or heat.
In Isaiah 60:18-22, there is a description of the Revelation 21:23, “and the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb.” There will be a day that we will not need the sun for light or heat, because the Lord will be with his people and his glory will shine in place of the sun. The ones who has accepted Jesus Christ, as their savior will spend eternity with Him in the new heavens and the new earth with a new body. Sadly though, the ones who has rejected Christ will spend an eternity separated from Christ in hell with their present bodies that can feel pain and their minds that can remember the opportunities that they had to avoid it.
